Chevrolet S-10

The S-10 is a pickup truck first released by Chevrolet in 1982. All throughout its production life, a total of two generations were made before it stopped production in 2004. The classification where this vehicle belongs to is the compact pickup truck since other pickup trucks were made larger and meant for more rigid usage compared to the Chevy S-10. The first generation of the Chevrolet S-10 went in production for eleven years, starting in 1982 up to 1993. Six engines were fitted into this generation of the S-10. Four of the engines are I4s, and two of them are V6s. Three different transmission systems were made. The transmission systems are as follows: a 4-speed THM-200C automatic, a 4-speed 700r4/4L60/4L60E automatic, and a 5-speed Borg Warner T5 manual transmission. The first generation Chevrolet S-10 is also known in two other names. It is also called the GMC S-15 and the GMC Sonoma. The physical dimensions of the first generation Chevrolet S-10 is 178.2 inches in length, 64.7 inches in width, and 61.3 in height. The second generation of the Chevrolet S-10 immediately followed the first generation, a year after its release was stopped. Three engines and three transmission systems were made for the second generation. Two of the engines are V6, and one is an I4. The fuel capacity for both V6 engines is 4.3 L, while the I4’s capacity is 2.2 L. The maximum power for the V6 engines is 165 hp for the smaller engine and 190 hp for the larger one. And for the I4 engine, maximum power is pegged at 120 hp. Two of the transmission systems made for the second generation S-10 are manual transmissions, and one is automatic. The automatic transmission is the 4-speed 4L60E, while the manual transmissions are the NV 1500 and the NV 3500. The fuel capacity of the second generation Chevy S-10 is 19 gallons. It is 190 inches long, 67.9 inches wide, and 63.5 inches high. Overall, the second generation is not just a better and upgraded version of the first generation, it is also a bit larger with stronger and better parts incorporated to it. The Syclone, Sonoma GT, and Typhoon special models made for the first generation used Chevrolet S-10 were no longer carried over to the second generation. However, an “Xtreme” package was set in place. It required a certain optional suspension called the ZQ8 to make the second generation upgradable.
